Mentoring is a service which offers you the opportunity to develop your knowledge or skills in a certain area, by working with someone (the mentor) who has more experience or knowledge in that area.
Mentoring can be useful in many types of situations, such as when starting in a new career or setting up a business, when organising personal finances, or when becoming a parent for the first time. In these types of situations, it can be useful and reassuring to link with someone who has 'been there and done that'.
In mentoring, you will usually meet up with your mentor over a period of several months, to work through the particular topic. By inputting their own experience and knowledge, the mentor is able to help you move forward and develop your knowledge or skills.
