Earlier this year, we gave you the opportunity to nominate charities that would receive additional donations from us. We're pleased to be able to announce the final amounts that each of the three chosen charities received!
In light of our Sunday 'Blessed Life' teaching series earlier in the year, we decided to be even more generous as an organisation and increase the amount of our unrestricted income we give away this financial year. As part of this, we decided to give £9,000 to three worthy causes nominated and voted for by you, our congregation. (You can find out more about the process in this news post).
We used a token system, so you could indicate which of the three causes you'd most like to support, and each of the three causes received a proportion of the £9,000, depending on the amount of tokens they received. The final amounts given were:
£3150 to Southampton Children’s Hospital Charity’s Emergency and Trauma Department Appeal, a campaign to raise £2million towards a new state-of-the-art emergency and trauma department, in Southampton, for children.
£3060 to Families First Southampton, an organisation supporting fathers to remain involved in the care of their children, and supporting healthy family relationships.
£2790 to Edith’s Home, a project working with HIV/AIDS orphans in the community of Ngora in Uganda.
It's a real privilege, as an organistion, to be able to be generous with what we have been given, and we're so pleased to be able to support these three fantastic causes as they make a real difference to the everyday lives of children and families in Southampton and further afield. Thank you for taking part in this process and nominating the charities that are close to your heart, and thank you also for your continued financial giving and generosity.
