Our Eastleigh congregation run a weekly lunch club to help teach families how to cook delicious, healthy meals on a budget, and we're looking for some more volunteers to join the team.
The lunch club runs every Tuesday during term-time, and teaches cooking skills, basic food hygiene and household budgeting in a fun environment, to parents of young children. The sessions include lunch for the families, and approximately 12 families are catered for each week. Previous recipes have included pizzas, pasta sauces, chicken pasta, bread pudding and crumbles.
The current team are lookig for additional volunteers who can help with setting up, clearing away, and interacting with the families, making sure the families have everything they need during the session. This is a great way to make connections with people in the local community and to offer some practical help to families, so if you could offer a couple of hours on a Tuesday once a week, do get in contact.
The lunch club is held at St Andrews Church, Blenheim Road, Eastleigh, SO50 5SD, and volunteers would need to be available from 11.30am to 2pm each Tuesday during term-time.
