UPDATE (21/12/15): We now have plenty of volunteers for the Christmas Café, so thank you to everyone who has offered to give some time to help!
We're running our Christmas Café again this year, providing a welcoming place and free food and drinks for anyone in need, including those who are homeless, vulnerable or lonely.
The Café is a way for us to show the generosity of Jesus to those in society who least experience it, and to provide a safe and welcoming space at a time of the year when many traditional support services in the community are closed.
This year (2015), the Christmas Café will be held at Central Hall as usual, and will be running on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, with our normal Community Café running on the 27th December.
The Café is run entirely by volunteers, so we need lots of people to help us make this happen. Could you give some time over the Christmas period to help us serve people in need? There are lots of different ways you can help, whether that's by helping with food preparation, washing up, being a friendly face and chatting to guests, stewarding, or helping with craft activities and games. You can volunteer for just one day or for multiple days. If you'd like to volunteer, please email Crystal Mintram via firstname.lastname@example.org.
We'd also love to be able to give a small gift to guests who attend the Café, so we're asking for donations of the following items (all new and unwrapped, please): sleeping bags, fleeces, warm gloves, warm scarves, thermal hats, thick socks. Could you donate some items to be given as gifts? You can leave items for donation in the box in the foyer at Central Hall on a Sunday morning, or drop them in to the office at Central Hall during the week. Monetary donations are also very much appreciated, and can be given in the church offering on a Sunday morning at Central Hall (please place the donation in an envelope, clearly labelled 'Christmas Café'), or given to the finance office at Central Hall (open Mon-Fri, 10am-3pm).
Please also remember to pray for the Café and for all those involved or attending.
