At the beginning of November, we held a Jubilee tea party for older people, at Central Hall. The event was held as part of Southampton City's 50th Jubilee celebrations, helping to mark Southampton's 50 years of city status.
Approximately 80 people joined together in Central Hall's small hall to celebrate and to look back at memories and events of 50 years ago.
As well enjoying a delicious tea of sandwiches, scones and cakes, we were treated to an assortment of 1960s songs from the Central Hall Community Gospel Choir. The Jubilee theme was also continued with pictures from the '60s, a fun '60s-based quiz, and a short talk about the meaning of Jubilee.
This tea was inspired by New Community Central's 'Hub', a monthly lunch for the over-50s, and the event provided a great opportunity to welcome people to New Community Church and to create a fantastic sense of community.
