Eastleigh congregation has come of age!
Currently one of our three congregations, Eastleigh was first established by New Community Church in the early 1980s. Then, after a further season as part of the church at Central Hall, it was released again as a separate congregation 18 years ago. Since then, it’s grown to an average Sunday attendance of 150 people, with nearly everyone serving in the church or in one of its community projects in some way.
The congregation has developed close links with other churches in Eastleigh, and is actively involved in multiple community projects across the Eastleigh Borough region.
In order for Eastleigh congregation to better serve their local community, we felt that now was the right time to commission them as an independent church. So, from 1st September 2017, Eastleigh congregation will be known as ‘Thrive Church’.
Although they will function independently from New Community Church, they will continue to be part of our extended family as members of the Pioneer network of churches, sharing our vision to build missional church that will reach those around us with the love of Jesus.
We will hold a special joint meeting at Central Hall in early September when we will formally pray for and release the congregation into its new identity.
Please pray for Eastleigh congregation and its leadership as they continue on this exciting journey with God. We can’t wait to see all the amazing adventures God has in store for them!
