This one-day training workshop, organised by CCTS, will provide an introduction to brief interventions which have been shown to be effective in helping clients in addressing problems with substance misuse. The day is ideal for counsellors, therapists and substance misuse practitioners who want to increase their knowledge in this area.
As well as exploring attitudes and stereotypes affecting service users, this training workshop will include facts and effects of alcohol and other drugs, and an introduction to the neurobiology of attachment, anxiety and addiction. You will be introduced to a range of intervention models, including solution-focused, brief intervention, harm reduction, twelve-step, and motivational models, and will look at how you can implement these interventions in your work.
The worskhop will be led by Linda Thompson-Shaw, who has significant experience as a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and trainer, and who has worked in the substance misuse therapeutic field since 1997.
