We are pleased to announce that our Central Hall premises is going to be the temporary home for Hope Community School, which is due to open in September this year!
As well as being the partner church to the new school, supporting its work and contributing to its Christian ethos, we are excited to have this further opportunity to serve the school and the local community in a practical way. The arrangement will also bring in additional income for New Community Network, our registered charity.
In December last year, a site on Chapel Road was agreed as the permanent location for the new school, and a purpose-built facility will be constructed there. In the meantime, the school will run from the temporary location at Central Hall from September 2017, for its first 2-3 years, until the permanent site is complete.
Central Hall is ideally located for the families within the SO14 postcode that the school aims to serve, and is conveniently close to the permanent site on Chapel Road. Many of the families who have applied for places for their children at the school are already connected to New Community Church in some way, either through our Tiny Treasures toddler group or through the monthly community play parties we’ve been hosting, and we are looking forward to continuing to engage with our local community through this new partnership.
Paul Weston, Chair of the New Generation School Trust, said: “We are really excited that this building will be used for learning. We look forward to families not just applying to the school, but working with us to make it a real community hub.”
A section of our Central Hall premises will be redesigned and redeveloped for the school, ensuring that the temporary provision meets the appropriate standards for school use. However, despite these alterations to the building over the next six months, we will continue to operate as we normally do as a church. The location of some of our regular activities within the building may change, but we will contact you in advance if your group or activity will be affected.
We will also continue to serve our local area as a venue available for hire for events, meetings and groups, and we’re looking forward to seeing the diversity of activities taking place in our historic building.
Please continue to pray for Hope Community School as it prepares to open in September. Please also pray that through this partnership we, as a church, will be able to continue serving and engaging with the families in our local community.
