Volunteers Needed for our Community Cafe

Every Sunday afternoon, New Community Church runs the Community Café, providing a hot meal and a welcoming environment to anyone in need, including those who are homeless or vulnerable.

The café was started in 2007, and now serves 70-100 guests per week. It's run entirely by volunteers, but we are currently very short of kicthen assistants. Could you spare a few hours occasionally to help us provide this vital service to those in need?

Kitchen assistants help with preparation of the food served to guests, and also with washing up and tidying the kitchen afterwards. Our kitchen teams run on an eight-week rota, so joining our team means you'll only need to serve about six times a year, and for about four hours each time. Voluneteering with the café is a great way to give back to society and show the love of God to those in need.

The café is held at Central Hall, St. Mary Street, Southampton, SO14 1NF, from 4.30-6pm each Sunday.

If you are interested in volunteering with the café or would like to find out more, please email communitycafe@newcommunity.org.uk. We are also keen to hear from people who can't commit to a rota but may be able to help out occasionally. All volunteers will be required to complete a registration form and provide references.
