Update: Although the gift day has now taken place, it's not too late to give if you haven't got round to it yet. Donations for the gift day will be accepted until Sunday 18th June 2017.
On Sunday 21st May, we are having our annual gift day across all our congregations!
This gift day is a great opportunity to give generously into the valuable work of our church. In the lead up to this day, please do be praying about what you could give.
Our annual gift day provides an opportunity for us to reflect on all the blessings we have, and to consider what we could give, over and above our regular giving, as a thanksgiving offering to God.
As a church, we have a heart to see both individual lives and whole communities transformed by the love of God. We're passionate about providing opportunities for more people to encounter Jesus, and passionate about serving our local communities in practical ways. We recognise that the more resources we have, the more we are able to engage with and serve our local communities through events, activities and projects.
Last year (2016), you generously gave over £34,000 on our annual gift day, investing in our vision to change lives and transform communities. Among many other things, this meant that we were able to invest in a youth worker for our Eastleigh congregation, invest in a children and families worker for our Sholing congregation, and extend our outreach focus in the centre of Southampton, helping many more people to hear the good news about Jesus and come to faith. You can find out more about how you made a difference, in our New Community Network Annual Report.
We're excited to see what a difference the money raised by our 2017 Gift Day will make in our local communities!
What will the money raised by our Gift Day be used for?
Central and Sholing Congregations:
We’re really excited about New Community Church’s opportunities to make new connections and host new events over the next year, and would love to ensure we have the resources to make the most of these opportunities in addition to continuing the work we already do.
For our Central congregation, we’d love to continue expanding our outreach evangelism work in the city, and plan to introduce an additional new expression of church on a Sunday evening in the autumn. The location of Hope Community School at Central Hall from September also provides a unique opportunity to engage more with our local community and serve them through events and projects that will help meet community needs.
For our Sholing congregation, we’re excited about continuing to engage with people in the local area, building on the relationships forged through our parent and toddler group, our community events, and our Gospel Sundays. In addition, we’d love to open a coffee bar in St Andrew's Church so that we can show God's love in a practical way to the people of Sholing.
Money raised by our Central and Sholing congregations for our 2017 Gift Day will go to New Community Network, to help our congregations and charity continue and expand on the work they do.
We’re commissioning our Eastleigh congregation as an independent church, in order for them to better serve their local community, and from the 1st September 2017 the congregation will be known as ‘Thrive Church’. Thrive Church will have independent charity status, and money raised by our Eastleigh congregation for our 2017 Gift Day will be used to seed this new charity. This will help to ensure that the newly commissioned church is as well resourced as possible, so that they can continue the great work they are already doing engaging with people and projects in their local region.
How can I give to the Gift Day?
There are lots of different ways you can give:
-By cash: This can be given in the collection at church on a Sunday, or given in to the finance office at Central Hall (open Mon-Fri, 10am-3pm). If you’d like us to claim Gift Aid on your donation, please place the cash in an envelope with your name and the amount on it, and please complete a Gift Aid form if you haven’t already.
-By BACS payment: You can give money directly to the New Community Network bank account. The details you will need are: CAF Bank Ltd, sort code: 40-52-40, account number: 00005807. Please mark the payment with your congregation name and the words ‘Gift Day’ as the reference (e.g. EASTLEIGH Gift Day).
-By credit/debit card: To make a donation by credit or debit card, please complete the Credit/Debit Card section of our Giving Form, place it in a sealed envelope, and either place it in the collection at church on a Sunday or post it to The Finance Office, Central Hall, St. Mary Street, Southampton, SO14 1NF. You can also make a donation over the phone, by phoning the finance office at Central Hall on 023 8038 5127 (open Mon-Fri, 10am-3pm), and speaking to Leandra or Sarah who will take the relevant details from you.
-By cheque: This can be given in the collection at church on a Sunday (please place it in a sealed envelope first), given in to the finance office at Central Hall (open Mon-Fri, 10am-3pm), or posted to The Finance Office, Central Hall, St. Mary Street, Southampton, SO14 1NF. Please make cheques payable to New Community Network, and mark the back of the cheque with your congregation name (e.g. EASTLEIGH).
-By text-giving: You can give up to a maximum of £10 by texting your congregation code plus the amount to 70070 (e.g. NCNC44 £10). Congregation codes are: NCNC44 for Central, NCNE44 for Eastleigh, NCNS44 for Sholing.
-By pledge: If you aren’t able to give immediately, but would like to give to the Gift Day, then you can pledge the money. If you would like to do this, please clearly state this on a Giving Form, place the form in a sealed envelope, and either place it in the collection at church on a Sunday or post it to The Finance Office, Central Hall, St. Mary Street, Southampton, SO14 1NF. Pledges will need to be paid by one of the above methods by Sunday 18th June 2017.
If you would like to give to the work of New Community Network on an on-going basis, you can do this by setting up a standing order. To do this, please download and complete a Giving Form, place the form in a sealed envelope, and either place it in the collection at church on a Sunday or post it to The Finance Office, Central Hall, St. Mary Street, Southampton, SO14 1NF.
If you are a UK taxpayer, you can make your donations go further by donating through Gift Aid. The Gift Aid scheme enables us (as a charity) to reclaim tax on donations made to us by UK taxpayers, which effectively increases the amount of the donation. Under this scheme, we can claim an extra 25p for every £1 donated, without any extra cost to donors.
Watch our Gift Aid video to see what a difference it makes when you sign up for Gift Aid.
In order to give through Gift Aid, you need to make a Gift Aid declaration. We’re asking everyone to complete a new Gift Aid form, as the wording has changed recently. We also need to ensure that our records are kept up to date. If you are a UK taxpayer and have given financially in the last year, please download and complete a Giving Form, and place it in a sealed envelope in the collection at church on a Sunday, or return it by post to The Finance Office, Central Hall, St. Mary Street, Southampton, SO14 1NF.
Thank you so much for your generosity!
"You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. 'For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.' And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others." (2 Corinthians 9:7-8, NLT).
