Bereavement Support Team
The team was set up in 1996 in response to a perceived need in such a large church. It is a pastoral service, and as such comes under the Pastoral leadership in the church. It is our belief that most people do not need Bereavement counselling if they are surrounded by understanding and caring friends within a caring church. We hope to establish bereavement awareness and encourage people to care.
Aims and Purposes:-
- To care, and to be seen to care, for bereaved people within the church.
- To encourage and enable people in the church to care for their bereaved brothers and sisters.
- To be a resource, offering training both within and outside of our own church.
Main Functions:-
- Send cards
- at time of bereavement.
- Follow-up, offering support.
- First anniversary.
- Provide support and a listening ear when requested, referring on to a Counsellor/ Pastor if necessary.
- Provide a remembrance service at intervals - ‘A Time to Remember’.
Anyone interested in more information, either to receive support or training - please contact Nicola Symes (Central) or Lizzie Cox (Eastleigh) via the office at Central Hall (Tel: 023 8023 7700).
