Our ethos

There is an ‘ethos’ about our mission at New Community Church - a way of being that makes us who we are. Here are some of the things we consider important:

We aspire to be a COMMUNITY where each member is valued and respected, irrespective of age, gender or race. Learning to LOVE is our goal. We celebrate DIVERSITY. We all have a CONTRIBUTION to make and a part to play. We are committed to BEING THE MESSAGE wherever we are. We are called to serve the POOR, the MARGINALISED and take the message to the FORGOTTEN PLACES. The BIBLE is inspired by God. It reveals God as covenant keeper and teaches how to live in right relationship. We are CHARISMATIC. We honour the PROPHETIC. We welcome and embrace the work of the HOLY SPIRIT. We recognise and honour gift and calling. LEADERS lead by example. Their authority comes from God. Their highest calling is to SERVE. We equally value MEN and WOMEN in leadership roles. Serving together we reflect the image of God. Our structures and strategies may CHANGE from season to season. We are committed to a life of PRAYER and WORSHIP, individually and corporately. We will operate with INTEGRITY in all our dealings. We will be GENEROUS with what we have been entrusted with. We will serve and PARTNER with other churches and organisations where possible. We CELEBRATE LIFE in all its fullness. We want the quality of our RELATIONSHIPS to be the benchmark of success whether those relationships are through MARRIAGE, FAMILY or FRIENDSHIP. We HONOUR those who have gone before. We are part of their story.

We are members of the Evangelical Alliance and hold to their stated Basis of Faith.

We are members of the Southampton Christian Network and are part of an informal network of churches and leaders called the Vista Community. The Vista Community works nationally with other networks that are part of the Pioneer Network.
