Students Rise
“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” – Matthew 5 v 14 -16
MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
SHAKE YOUR UNI.
BE A LIGHT.
Here at New Community we believe that it is not so much about individuals having a special calling, but about us each making ourselves available for God to use us – in whatever way - small or large - He is the potter and we are the clay.
We can all make a difference right where we’re at, we just need to allow Jesus to shine through us. Being at Uni as a student is a key time – you’ll rarely ever have the same opportunities to influence such a large number of people again. It doesn’t matter what your background, Uni or chosen path of study is, we, as a Student Team, want to see you walk into all God has called you to, whether you feel you are able or not - He is, and we are here to walk with you, to equip you and to encourage you!

Small Groups
Jesus had a core group of really ordinary guys, they were fishermen, tax collectors and tent makers – but this bunch of ordinary people, who were regarded as nothing special by society, changed the world and all of history.
Ordinary people that made themselves available to live extraordinary lives for God – yet none of them did it alone. They were trained by Jesus in this small group and then went on to replicate this in the early church in homes – small groups encouraging, challenging and helping one another to walk the path of obedience and boldness together.
We believe that small groups like this are crucial in helping us grow and learn, care and encourage. Without one another, the Bible makes it clear, that it is very difficult to take up our daily cross and follow Jesus.
At New Community there are several small groups that you can get involved with. If you are not already connected into church in this way we really encourage you to contact us so that we can go about linking you into one of them. Just get in touch with Dan or Sarah for more details.

Dan Pooley
Dan has been a student worker at City Life church for several years, and with the growing partnership between New Community and City Life has taken on a role to help co-ordinate the student work across the two congregations. He works with Sarah Jane to see students equipped, encouraged and inspired to step out in faith for God. If you want to chat and pray he is available – especially if coffee is involved!
He is older than he looks, but young enough to enjoy being serious only very occasionally.
Loves: coffee, cooking (and food in general), India (where he takes teams twice a year – get in touch if you’re interested in joining one of them), classic cars, dogs (except the little yappy ones), did I mention coffee already?
