zambia churchSummary of Zambia Trip

At the beginning of September Simon Wield will be flying out to Zambia (into Lusaka) and then onto Sakeji School where he will be spending the majority of his time. Simon writes, "Sakeji is a mission school situated in the Northwest province of Zambia at a remote location close to both neighbouring countries of Congo and Angola. The school accommodates up to a hundred pupils, though currently there is just over fifty, and it is reliant upon the support of visiting missionaries. Sakeji is a diverse community with the children alone representing some ten different nationalities. The purpose of the school is to educate the children according to biblical principles, and the staff have a strong conviction to create and maintain a wholesome and Godly environment, based on a Brethren interpretation of scripture.

zambia people"Personally my reasons for going to Sakeji were a desire to travel and experience a different culture, in order to be challenged and stretched, gain some experience in a school before I do my postgraduate teacher training in September next year, and have some time away from Southampton to gain some perspective and seek God concerning my involvement in New Community when I return. In addition to this being able to serve the school which is reliant upon the help of volunteers made this an excellent opportunity, and I look forward to blessing the staff and teachers in what ever way I can. I feel like God has really provided for this time: financially I have been incredibly blessed and I have received words of encouragement regarding the trip so I’m looking forward to making the most of this time away and learning whatever lessons God wants to teach me."
