I’ve been involved with Community Church since coming to the University of Southampton as a student in the late ‘70s. I stayed in Southampton after graduating and subsequently married Frances. We have two children – Tim (21) and Claire (18).
My career has been in engineering, first of all with Pirelli in their cable-making factory in Southampton (now the site of the West Quay development) and then with BP Chemicals. In 1995 I joined the University of Southampton as Building Services Manager for the newly established Oceanography Centre. In 2000 I transferred to the Highfield campus and latterly have had responsibility for engineering infrastructure and services across the university.
One of the things that I find special about the church is the sense of team work and co-operation that pervades so many of our activities. I see my role as a trustee as helping to provide the structure and conditions that will enable everyone in the church to fulfil their mission effectively.
