Prophetic Word given on 13.01.08 by Kay Bryan

Given at the Sunday evening service at Central Hall on 13th January 2008
Last week Billy spoke about our commitment to God and being totally sold out for him.  He talked about the lifestyle that Jesus led, which upset the religious leaders of the time.  He said the Jesus was a revolutionary, a radical teacher.  That word revolution is stuck in my mind, and as Billy continued to speak, I felt God give me this prophetic word.

This word is specifically for the young men of this church.
I believe God is saying that you are asking for an olive branch of peace to make your lives easier.  And you're asking him for oil and for healing and to make your lives more comfortable.  But God says, ‘I will not put an olive branch in your hand, because I am giving you a sword.  And instead of balm and oil I'm giving you fire, the fire of the Holy Spirit. I'm calling you to arms. Now is not the time to be comfortable.
As Billy also shared about taking his son David to Scotland as a rite of passage, coming into manhood, so God is calling you young men into spiritual manhood.  It’s time to grow up in God, it’s time to walk a revolutionary path.
When Billy said the word revolutionary, I immediately saw the word holiness appear next to it.  I believe God is saying that in order to walk this revolutionary path.  You need to be living holy lives, totally dedicated to him.

Many of you are leading still, stagnant lives.  It is like you're sitting on a boat on a still lake, lying back enjoying the sunshine instead of riding the rapids of God's purposes.  He wants you to get into the flow of what he's doing.  The river is always moving, and sometimes the rapids are fierce.  But if you listened to the instructor in the boat and obey the things he tells you to do, you will be safe.  But you need to listen and you need to sort out your lives. Yes, this will be uncomfortable for you, yes, it will be hard, but the road to holiness is not an easy one. I feel that the instructor in the boat represents spiritual fathers and I feel that you need to find mentors to teach you to be warriors and to get back into the flow.  If you don't have a mentor or a spiritual father, you need to ask God to send you one. (They don’t have to be over 50 to be a mentor) God also is saying that some of you have never had sword and you would not know what to do with it so you need to learn from scratch.  But there are others who have had swords but you have put them down.  Some are hidden away in cupboards, some of them are rusting outside in the rain, unused and uncared for.  God is asking you to pick those swords up again.  You might have put them down through hurt or disappointment but you need to move on and leaves those things behind.

Today is a new day. It is time to pick up your swords and be the men of God that he has called you to be.
